Plug-and-play Fire Protection

Still at an early stage, The International Quarter (TIQ) in Stratford, London, is in the process of installing Pre-wired Zonechecks as a part of it’s fire protection strategy. Members of the Project Fire team, Dave Disbury and Danny Jocelyn met with Terry Bird from Hall & Kay, the main fire contractor for the site.

The build is taking shape with S6 being one of the nine south projects and a further four which will be North projects. Increasing productivity and effectiveness on-site are becoming key and as the team were shown around we noticed a plumbing, electric, and lighting module which is built off-site then shipped straight in. These units appeared to be plug-and-play and connected to the next module.

"This is DfMA, (design for manufacture and assembly), commissioned and assembled offsite then dropped into place, we found this very interesting as we move forward with our own ‘POD’ concept"

This is DfMA, (design for manufacture and assembly), commissioned and assembled offsite then dropped into place, we found this very interesting as we move forward with our own ‘POD’ concept and would complement a system like this very well. Terry introduced us to the team at the Lendlease site office, where Dave talked 3D with Stuart from H&K and Danny discussed the rest of the project with Alan Ratibb and Terry. It was great connecting with the Hall & Kay team!
