  • Zonecheck build and Livetap demonstration

“This course is specifically for building consultants, architects, public health engineers, fire engineers, M&E engineers and those who are involved with specifying sprinkler systems.”

Programme

The Sprinkler Academy covers a full range of specialist subjects. Below is an example of a typical 2 day course (depending on availability and your requirements). We can also tailor each course, making sure to cover any topics that you have a particular interest in (we find this is useful when delegates have a specialist project coming up). The course is held at our offices in Staffordshire.

Commercial/Industrial Sprinkler Systems
Session will cover all the basics of how automatic fire sprinkler systems work as well as looking at all the major components and key design criteria.
Life safety sprinkler systems and Zonecheck
Session will look at what enhancements are required when life safety is a requirement. This is common for buildings such as shopping centres, office buildings and transportation hubs.
Demonstration of Zonecheck build
This sesson takes place in our production space and gives the oppertunity to see the whole process from start to finish.
Pipework practical
This practical session allows you to get hands-on with pipework used in sprinkler systems. Depending on time and group size, you may get the chance to work with CPVC and/or steel pipe.
Zonecheck Addressable Practical
Session will cover our Zonecheck Addressable system which performs automatic monitoring and testing of a variety of sprinkler components from a single central controller unit. The session goes through the practical process of wiring, comissioning and fault finding.
Pipe fitting practical
Session will be a hands-on look at common methods of joining sprinkler pipework; grooved, screwed and solvent welded. Candidates have the opportunity to assemble pipe using these methods and then test it under pressure.
Pipe sizing and frictional loss calculations
Session will look at how sprinkler systems are calculated in terms of pipe sizings to ensure that minimum criteria are met.
Residential sprinkler systems
Session will look at automatic fire sprinkler systems specifically for domestic and residential buildings. BS 9251 will be used as the main reference document. Mixed use buildings will also be covered and discussed.
Sprinkler Service and Maintenance
This session will go through all of the service and maintenance tests and checks that are required for commercial/industrial sprinkler protection.
Extent of Sprinkler Protection
This session covers areas where sprinkler protection may not be necessary. Rules are clarified and alternative options are discussed.
Sprinkler head layout - Design Exercise
Rules on the placement of sprinkler heads are taught and then put into action with a practical exercise.
Demo Area
Some time in spent in our dedicated demonstration area where we have real life pumps, initation boards, alarm valves, Zonechecks and sprinkler heads to look at, demonsrate and activate.
Fire and fault signalling
Session will focus on fire and fault signalling from a sprinkler system perceptive. Session will include a hands-on look at how Zonecheck Addressable manages, displays and sends on fault and fire signals to other devices.
Q&A
In this session, candidates are invited to provide feedback on the course and also gives an opportunity to ask any final questions they may have.
