The Project Fire Academy is a fantastic opportunity to get the latest information on regulations and fire codes and develop your knowledge of automatic fire sprinkler systems, whilst spending time in a thriving R&D manufacturing environment.
Due to the success and fantastic feedback from our first Contractors Academy, Project Fire decided to run some further one-off courses specifically designed contractors (please note this is not cut down version of our sprinkler design course). The course takes place at Project Fire’s headquarters in Staffordshire, it’s a varied and dynamic course with hybrid classroom and practical based learning, providing clear and updated information on fire sprinklers and the industry.

Programme
Our training school can cover a range of subjects and depending on availability specialist presentations by guest speakers from some of the leading companies within the fire protection industry. DAY 1 | |
Commercial & industrial sprinklers | A look at commercial and industrial sprinkler systems, and fire codes. |
Water supplies | This session will look at the difference types of water supplies and their applications. |
Life safety | A look at the difference between life safety and property protection. |
Live demonstrations | Live demonstrations of testing and various sprinkler components in our dedicated sprinkler demo room. |
Sprinkler head layout & frictional losses | Session will look at the main rules which govern sprinkler head spacing and how to calculate frictional losses within sprinkler pipework with some worked examples. |
DAY 2 | |
Extent of sprinkler protection | Session will look at permitted exceptions of sprinkler protection and methods for protecting areas of building such as server rooms where water discharge would cause expensive damage. |
Residential sprinkler systems | Session will look at automatic fire sprinkler systems specifically for domestic and residential buildings and mixed use developments. |
Service and maintenance schedules | Session will focus on the testing, service and maintenance schedules stated in the sprinkler codes and explain what is required to remain in compliance. |
Pipe fitting practical | Session will be a hands-on look at common methods of joining sprinkler pipework; grooved, screwed and solvent welded. Candidates have the opportunity to assemble pipe using these methods and then test it under pressure. |
Sprinkler design | General overview on sprinkler design including exercise sheets and worked examples. |
Sprinkler contracting and commissioning | An overview of roles within the industry and a sprinkler system commissioning checklist. |
Q&A | Informal quiz session and any final questions you may have, candidates are also invited to provide feedback on the course. |
